Location and Geography
The country of Vietnam in the shape of “S” lies on the eastern rim of the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia. Regarding in length, the country territory extends for 1,750 kilometers from North to South; in width, its widest part is respectively accounted for 600 kilometers and narrowest part only 50 kilometers. Vietnam’s territory comprises a number of islands with the total area of the country being just little over 331,690 square kilometers.
Vietnam borders with China in the North, Laos in the Northwest, Cambodia in the Southwest, South China Sea referred to as East Sea (Biển Đông in Vietnamese) in the East, and the Gulf of Thailand in the Southeast. With the special location and geography, Vietnam is referred as a charmingly dragon-looking country. Blessed with charming coastline of over 3,000 kilometers from the Gulf of Tonkin and the South China Sea, emerald-green mountains, breathtaking national parks, bustling cities, peaceful villages, outstanding cultural interest and one of the world’s best cuisines, Vietnam has its own.
