Sapa Cuisines
Sapa’s major source of food is supplied through
agricultural production, natural exploitation and commodity exchange. Local
people growth rice, sticky rice, corn, sweet potato, and beans as daily food.
The main meal of local people is cooked rice eaten with other dishes made from
vegetables, meat, eggs, fish, etc. Sapa people use different ingredients to
cook such as chilly, ginger, alpinia, lemon’s leaves, etc.

Lies within the mild climate zone, Sapa’s most
prominent specialties are vegetables. Sapa’s vegetables are delivered to
different areas in the country. Chayote is one among the special Sapa’s
vegetables. Boiled chayote eaten with crushed sesame and salt is a simple but
delicious dish.
Besides, Sapa is also well-known for the meat from a
local kind of pig which is growth naturally. When they are in need of money,
they will grasp a pig and clutch it under the arm to bring to the market for
sale. That’s why it is often called “lợn cắp nách” (clutched pig). A
mature pig only weighs less than 10 kg. The pig will be processed and mixed
with different ingredients before roasted. This dish has been a must-eat one
for any tourists once visiting Sapa.
Although lying within a mountainous area, Sapa’s
another specialty is fishes. Fishes are caught from rivers, streams flowing
under steep mountains in Sapa. After being caught, the fishes will be baked or
roasted right by the river bank. Then they will be stored or sold to restaurants
in town.
These are several specialties which tourists can
enjoy when visiting Sapa. Besides, Sapa town is also famous for the night
market which offers different delicious dishes, most of which are grilled or
roasted ones. Visiting Sapa without trying a dish of baked or grilled meat,
beef, fish, and vegetables is a great pity. These specialties can be eaten with
