Besides, Sapa is also well-known for the meat from a local kind of pig which is growth naturally. When they are in need of money, they will grasp a pig and clutch it under the arm to bring to the market for sale. That’s why it is often called “lợn cắp nách” (clutched pig). A mature pig only weighs less than 10 kg. The pig will be processed and mixed with different ingredients before roasted. This dish has been a must-eat one for any tourists once visiting Sapa.

 

Although lying within a mountainous area, Sapa’s another specialty is fishes. Fishes are caught from rivers, streams flowing under steep mountains in Sapa. After being caught, the fishes will be baked or roasted right by the river bank. Then they will be stored or sold to restaurants in town.
