Shopping around in Nha Trang
Though Nha Trang is not exactly a
haven for those seeking designer labels, shopping in Nha Trang does have its
highlights. The day market on Doc Lop Street is always good fun and you’ll get
an opportunity to pick up some gifts and souvenirs. The small local shops carry
some really good local artwork and the ubiquitous Vietnamese tailors will run
up a suit for you in no time at all. If you are not in a supermarket or an
established shop, always haggle. It is the way things are done here, keep it
light hearted and have fun. There are some exquisite wood carvings to be bought
at Anh Tai Wood Carvings and Thiery Beyne, the French photographer, has a
studio called The Artful Gallery. Enjoy a great coffee whilst admiring his
work. The Nha Trang Centre is the main shopping mall in the region. It is right
on the beachfront and is home to local designer fashion shops, cosmetics,
jewellery and beach and sportswear.
