This fascinating port city was inscribed onto UNESCO World Heritage Site as a superb example of a Southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to 19th century. Its strategic position on the old spice route earned it fame and fortune. Its buildings reflect both Asian and foreign influences and it is truly a unique site.

 

Tourists wishing to visit the old town have to purchase a coupon. This ticket then gains you access to all the major attractions. The sheer volume of places of interest here make it a must see place on any Vietnam tour. The Japanese Bridge, Museum of Folk and Culture, Quan Cong Temple and many more historically important buildings are here.
